Editor’s Letter – Oct. 2017 – May Rindge Would Never Put Up With This Sh*t!

in City/Lifestyle by

After Frederick Rindge’s premature death in 1905, the fierce and unfriendly May Rindge who had grown up on a hardscrabble midwestern farm, fought to preserve Malibu’s pristine beauty and private status. Rindge used her armed ranch hands to block access to federal homesteaders, aimless squatters, poachers, outlaws, hunters, illegal campers, trespassers and real estate developers. Fast forward to 2017, there is still a strong community spirit inspired by May Rindge.

We are Malibu locals who want to preserve what is left of our rural pristine beauty. We object to squatters, poachers, lawbreakers, illegal hunters, illegal campers, private property trespassers and greedy real estate developers who exploit Malibu and do not give back to the community. May Ringe, the “Queen” of Malibu would never have tolerated this behavior. Why should we?
